Affirmation Bible Reading: Proverbs 18:20-21
“Words satisfy the soul as food satisfies the stomach; the right words on a person’s lips bring satisfaction. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
God’s Words are so powerful that they created life! God spoke creation into existence. God’s Word says that our words can bring life as well.
Meditate on these bible verses which speak about the life-giving words, while you listen to the sounds of a babbling brook:
Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.
Proverbs 12:18 The tongue of the wise brings healing
Proverbs 15:4 Gentle words bring life and health
Proverbs 16:24 Kind words are like honey-sweet to the soul and healthy for the body
Proverbs 18:4 A person’s words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook.
Words are like toothpaste. Once the paste has been squeezed out of the tube, it cannot be sucked back in again. Watch out for harsh words. Proverbs 15:1 says:”harsh words stir up anger” and Proverbs 15:4 “a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit”
“Words can plant gardens or burn whole forests down.”
Gemma Troy
“Words. So powerful. They can crush a heart, or heal it. They can shame a soul, or liberate it. They can shatter dreams, or energize them. They can obstruct connection, or invite it. They can create defences, or melt them. We have to use words wisely.”
Jeff Brown
Breathe to release tension in your chest and face, while exercising your tongue:
- Sit in a comfortable position.
- Press your palms against your knees with your fingers spread wide.
- Inhale deeply through your nose and open your eyes wide.
- Open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue, bringing the tip down toward your chin.
- Exhale out through your mouth by making a long “haaaa” sound.
- Do this breath 2 to 3 times.
Your words can be LIFE-GIVING.

Pray:
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Help me to be committed not to sin with my words. Keep my words focused on praising You and pointing others to You. Help me to speak words that build up others. Fill my heart with your Word so that my tongue will speak your truth in my conversations.
