Affirmation Bible Verse: Philippians 4:8-9 from The Message bible
‘Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into His most excellent harmonies.’
Do you have trouble controlling your thoughts? Many people think thoughts are like the weather – there’s not much we can do about them. That is not true. We can learn to discipline our minds and decide what to think about. We can make it a habit to think about pure and true things.
There is a battle for our minds and it started in the Garden of Eden. The serpent (Satan) put doubt and suspicion for God in Eve’s mind and the door to sin was opened.
Satan wants to pollute your mind with evil thoughts and he does this by using technology and destructive friendships so that he can control what you see and hear. Your thoughts become your actions and can lead to broken relationships, loss of self-respect, murder, dishonesty, depression, health problems, use of vulgar language, addiction and destruction of our environment. You need to change the channel in your head to overcome evil thoughts. Don’t beat yourself up for having evil thoughts, everyone has them, you need to stop them from entering your mind. You hold the remote control to the channels of your mind. So change the music channel you listen to, the books or magazines that you read, the people you associate with and the social media material you follow.
Why does Satan want to control your mind? I think this quote sums up the answer to that perfectly: “If you saw the size of the blessing coming, you would understand the magnitude of the battle you are fighting.”
Satan is your enemy and he is really fighting hard to take control of your mind and to bend it to his will, filling it with all kinds of pollution. So take everything that God has set out for you, excellent weapons made of the best materials and use them in the fight against the Devil because you know how destructive pollution can be. Always remember this saying about computer data capture: ‘Junk in, Junk out.’ In Ephesians the Message Bible reads as follows:
‘This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued so that when it’s all over, bar the shouting, you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray long and hard. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.’

Food for thought: Plastic pollution has infiltrated every corner of the world. No matter where you go and how beautiful the landscape is, you’ll find sweet wrappers, plastic bottles and plastic bags everywhere. Plastic does not degrade for hundreds to thousands of years. If we continue to use plastic at the current rate, ocean plastic will outweigh all the fish in the sea by 2050. Please reduce your plastic use and change to biodegradable options.
Environmental pollution could be stopped by curing our mental pollution.

Pray: Dear loving Father, please fill me with your spirit, so that order can be established in my mind. My thoughts feel tangled up in confusion and I can’t focus. I need your help. May your Kingdom come and your will be done in my heart, mind and life. Please give me meaning and clarity in this troubled world and help me to remember that my true home is with you in eternity one day. Help me to focus on your unconditional love for me. Make me strong in the face of temptation and provide friends who will encourage me to keep my mind free of impure thoughts. Amen.
